UnPlanned Pregnancies

It is quite hard to understand why half of all pregnancies in the United States are unplanned, even in the presence of all the information about pregnancy and birth control that is available to us today.

However, the following reasons that are out of one’s control are considered to cause unplanned pregnancy.

  • Broken condoms
  • Failed ortho-tricyclin (a type of birth control pill)
  • Failed triphasil (another type of birth control pill)
  • Unprotected sex

If you think you are pregnant and this pregnancy of yours is not intentional, following are some helpful considerations that you can utilize for yourself in terms of making a decision about your unplanned pregnancy.

Your Options:

They are:

  1. You may continue with the pregnancy, choosing to raise the child.
  2. You may continue the pregnancy, but place the child up for adoption.
  3. You may choose to terminate the pregnancy.

Which one of the above options you choose depends entirely on you.

Factors that might contribute to your decision:

They include, but are not limited to.

  • Your values
  • Your personal beliefs
  • Your plans for the future
  • Your present status
  • Your needs

An unplanned pregnancy influences your and your unborn child’s life a great deal more than a planned pregnancy.

Your current circumstances will greatly affect your decision regarding your unplanned pregnancy. Current circumstances such as your current capabilities and what do you want at this point in your life etc.

If you are into a committed relationship with your partner, you should discuss the unplanned pregnancy with him and together both of you can reach a decision that is acceptable to both of you.

Should you were not into a committed relationship when you got pregnant; you should seek the help of your health care provider. Talk to him/her and he/she will provide you the guidance in correct direction keeping your health under consideration.
